The composition of the anchor chain

A complete anchor chain first consists of many anchor chain links connected to each other to form an anchor chain link of a certain length, and then several anchor chain links are connected through connecting links or connecting shackles to form the entire anchor chain.
anchor chain link
The chain link in the anchor chain includes common link (C), enlarged link (EL), open end link (E), swivel (SW), end Shackle (D Type End Shackle, ES), connecting link (KS) or connecting shackle (JS), etc. The size of each link is expressed by the diameter of the round steel of the link, as shown in Figure 2.
Ordinary chain links are the majority of the chain links in the anchor chain and are the standard chain links that characterize the size and strength of the anchor chain. The size of the anchor chain is expressed by chain diameter (mm), and the chain diameter (d) is the diameter of the ordinary link in the corresponding anchor chain. The size ratio of ordinary chain links with gears is: diameter d, width 3.6d, and length 6d. The enlarged chain link mainly plays a size transition role in the anchor chain, and its size is 10% larger than the ordinary chain link in the corresponding anchor chain. The end link is an enlarged open link in the anchor chain. It is used to connect other links and play a size transition role. Its diameter is 1.2d.
The Detachable Joining Link or Detachable Joining Shackle is used to connect the front and rear sections of the anchor chain. The connecting link is a detachable link, as shown in Figure 3. There are two forms: one is the Kenter-type (Joining Link Kenter-type), also called the double-half type or Kenter Shackle (KS). Its diameter is d, its length is 6d, and its width is 4.2d. It is a type of link specified by our country’s specifications and national standards; the other is C-shaped (Joining Link C-type, also called loose type). Since the diameter of the connecting link is the same as that of an ordinary link, it can be directly connected to an ordinary link. When assembling the connecting chain ring, clean all parts and apply butter to prevent rust. After connecting the anchor chains on both sides and assembling, insert the tapered pin (TaperPin) into the pin hole and fix it with the anchor chain punch. The pores are sealed with lead plugs.
Joining Shackle (JS) is a detachable D-shaped shackle. In order to ensure the connection strength, the diameter of the connecting shackle is increased to 1.3d, then both sides of the shackle are pinned to the end link, enlarged the link and then connected to the ordinary link to ensure a smooth transition of size, as shown in Figure 4 . The end shackle is directly connected to the anchor shackle at the front end of the anchor chain, with a diameter of 1.4d.
The transverse pin of each D-shaped shackle in the anchor chain is generally an approximately elliptical cylinder without threads, as shown in Figure 4. The transverse pin is fixed with a conical pin perpendicular to the plane of the shackle, and the pin opening is sealed with a lead block.
